Privacy Policy
Deen Time has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your settings and progress stay on your phone. We do not collect, store or sell your personal data.
What stays on your phone
- Your location, used to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction on the device.
- Your settings: prayer guide, school, translation language, athan and reminder choices.
- Your progress: lessons and chapters read, starred duas, and Quran memorization.
- Prayer notifications, which are scheduled on the phone itself.
Deleting the app deletes all of this.
What is sent to other services, and why
Some features need to look something up online. Only the information needed for that request is sent, at the moment you use the feature. We do not receive or keep it.
| Feature | Sent to | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Nearby mosques and halal food | OpenStreetMap (Overpass servers), or Google Places if enabled | Your approximate location and the search radius |
| Halal scanner | Open Food Facts | The barcode number of the product you scan |
| Quran text, translations and audio | AlQuran.cloud and Islamic Network | Which surah and translation to download |
Like any website, these services can see your device’s internet (IP) address when they answer a request. Their own privacy policies apply to them.
Permissions
- Location – only while you use the app, for prayer times, Qibla and nearby places.

- Notifications – for the athan and the daily reminder you choose.
You can turn any of these off at any time in your phone’s Settings.

My prayer times look wrong
Check that location is allowed for Deen Time. If you follow the Hanafi school, set Settings → School to Hanafi for the later Asr time. You can also change the calculation method in Settings → Prayer time calculation.
The athan doesn’t play
Make sure notifications are allowed for Deen Time and that each prayer is switched on in Settings → Notifications & Athan. On iPhone, the ring/silent switch and Focus modes can silence notification sounds. Open the app every few days so it can schedule the next week of prayers.
Mosques or halal food won’t load
These come from OpenStreetMap, which is free and run by volunteers. Check your internet connection and tap Try again. Some areas have fewer places listed – you can add missing mosques and restaurants at openstreetmap.org.
